PROJECT DOCUMENTS

The documents in this section are direct outcomes of the Assistive Technology for Kansans Project. They were written by project staff members or prepared with considerable assistance from the project.

AT & the IEP – Basic guidelines for considering the Assistive Technology issues that relate to Individualized Education Plans in the school system are discussed in detail. A useful resource for parents as well as school administrators and personnel.

Funding Manual – A compilation of identified public and private funding sources in Kansas, including the guidelines for eligibility and application for each.

Lemon Law – The file contains the full text of the Kansas Law concerning assistive devices used for major life activities. It addresses the warranties, consumer rights, refund policies and provides arbitration of disputes and enforcement of the act.

Writing Evaluations – A comprehensive explanation of how to produce written evaluations for communication devices that will stand up in an appeal process. The paper discusses the establishment of need, and justification for specific features.
