FUNDING & POLICY ANALYSIS

“Assistive technology is very important to me. I wish it wasn't so difficult to understand how to get assistance. It's sad that it's so difficult to get funding for a minority that falls through the cracks. I wasn't rich enough to help myself, but I wasn't poor enough for government programs. People need help and more resources. Instead of taxpayers paying to take care of us, assistive technology lets us become taxpayers.” Rick Linnabary

Funding and Policy Analysis

Assistive Technology for Kansas develops, implements and monitors state, regional and local laws, regulations, policies and practices, to improve access to assistive technology devices and assistive technology services. An effective, statewide, grassroots coalition of consumers has been organized to respond to legislative and policy barriers.

ATK supplies legislators with technical assistance and services to make new laws meet the needs of persons with disabilities. The Project also facilitates the dissemination of accurate and factual information on current events and topics. Select the Kansas Funding Manual for information about funding for assistive technology and for information regarding current legislative and policy issues select the legal issues page.
